Elemental is located on Park Avenue in Emeryville, California, across the street from Pixar animation studios and down the street from the Emeryville Town Hall. Emeryville is a small city between Oakland and Berkeley that has a long history as a home to industry, which now includes many biotech and software companies. Although we’re primarily an Internet retailer, please feel free to stop by our office if you’re in town, we’re always happy to meet our customers and show you our latest lights.
who we are
Elemental LED began in 2008, as most Bay Area businesses do, in a garage. The friendship of Max Darling and Randy Holleschau, who are now our CEO and COO respectively, evolved to include an interest in a lighting technology that had been around for a while but was just starting to make an appearance in the realm of consumer products. (We’ve been told “Do Not Walk” by LEDs since the ‘60s!) It’s easy to see how they became obsessed with a technology that is energy-efficient, eco-friendly, and which also allows people to light their spaces in a way that you can’t with just any only light bulb. Yeah, when it comes to LEDs, you could say they’re lighting nerds, and that all of us at Elemental are lighting nuts.
Just as importantly, we’re people people. While we embrace the hi-tech age in which we live, we value and prioritize personal relationships above all—with one another and with you, the customer. Although we’ve moved out of the garage into an office—and moved again to a larger space in April 2010 to accommodate our growth—we’re still the same independently-owned company based in California that we’ve always been. When you call us with a question, or for help implementing your lighting vision with a custom project, you’ll not only get one of us on the phone, but we’ll take the time to make sure you know what to order and how it all fits together. Maintaining and encouraging an open, fluid dialogue about each project is what allows us to fearlessly and successfully explore the challenge of new lighting concepts and designs. Or to just finally get some more light onto your kitchen counters!

shipping information
Our products ship Monday-Friday, except for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and all US Postal holidays. We ship to almost anywhere in the world.
We guarantee same day shipping on orders placed by 2:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time) of items that are in stock. In the event that one or more items in your order is out of stock, we will notify you by email and you'll have the option to immediately ship the available items, or to wait for all items to be in stock before we ship. When your items are back in stock, you'll receive a notification email from us.
We offer two shipping carriers for our products: United Parcel Service and the U.S. Postal Service.
UPS Shipping is available for all domestic and international orders. (We do not offer UPS Ground shipping to international addresses.) UPS shipping is generally faster, more reliable, and more consistent than the USPS, and costs a little more. UPS packages also come with a tracking number. We recommend UPS for customers whose orders are more time-sensitive. (Please note that UPS cannot deliver packages to post office boxes.)
We offer free shipping on orders over $250 (applies only to orders shipping to US addresses.)
Please note: Our system is experiencing problems processing international credit card payments. We also offer Priority shipping from the U.S. Postal Service as a more economical option. The USPS's estimate for the average delivery time for Priority mail is 1-3 days.

RETURNS:
Returns will be accepted within 30 calendar days for money back or within 60 calendar days for store credit on all items except Custom Products or Special Orders. Please email us at returns@elementalled.com for all inquiries about returns.
Store credit or money back is allowed under the following conditions:
- All returns must be returned in original, unused, resalable condition and must be returned in the original exterior box, well packed, accompanied by the original packing material, manuals and any other accessories provided with the original delivery. Additional packaging may be necessary.
- All returns must be securely packaged, prepaid and shipped via a secure carrier or personally delivered to our office. Return shipping, payment for return shipping, and any subsequent damages from return shipping are the responsibility of the purchaser. Elemental LED is not responsible for packages lost or damaged while in transit to us.
- No returns will be accepted without prior approval, and a Return Goods Authorization Number (RGA #) is issued by Elemental LED. A customer can request an RGA Form and number by e-mail or by calling Customer Service. The RGA number must be referenced in the package of any returned product.
- All returns must be accompanied by a copy of the original receipt. Email confirmations or Internet order copies will not be accepted.
- A restocking fee of 15% will be applied to any returned order. Please include a short note inside your return package explaining why you're returning the item and the desired action.
- Shipping and handling fees are not refundable for any reason.
- Once an order has been processed, any measures that must be taken to correct either the merchandise in the order or the shipping method or location will be considered a non-defective return and subject to any policies that apply to such a return.
- Refunds, store credit, or exchanges will not be issued until the return item has been received and logged by Elemental LED.
- Clearance items are sold as is. No returns, refunds, or exchanges will be accepted for any clearance item. Clearance items are warrantied for replacement only.
- Refunds for purchases made by credit card can only be credited to the original card used to make the purchase.
- Store credits are good for a period of 12 months from date of credit issue.
Please note that the LED industry is a fast paced and rapidly expanding industry. LED products are continuously being improved upon in ever shortening manufacturing cycles. LED color and product appearance can change from order to order. Elemental LED cannot guarantee to replace the product exactly to match the product you are replacing or matching in product appearance, color, or brightness. In such cases, Elemental LED will attempt to repair or replace the defective product. If the product cannot be repaired, the LED Light will be replaced with a new LED Light. The new LED may not match the existing LED since it is new and manufactured in a new batch of LEDs. LED Lights fade over time. While Elemental LED will warranty faulty or defective LEDs that flash, flicker, or are not operating, Elemental LED will not replace LEDs that have their light output decreased over time or LEDs that have changed in brightness (lumens) color or color temperature (Kelvin). Elemental LED will not replace the other functioning LED products so that they will match in color, style and appearance, or brightness.
Products Title Warranty: Company warrants that the Products purchased by Purchaser hereunder shall be free and clear of all liens and encumbrances except for Company's purchase money security interest therein.
Limited Products and Services Warranty: Company warrants that the Products and Services are free from manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of three (3) years from the date of delivery to the original end user. Warranties do not extend beyond the original end user. ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS ARE LIMITED TO THE SAME PERIOD. Claimant must furnish proof of date of purchase. Company will provide replacement Products, or may opt to reimburse the purchase price if product replacement is infeasible. Company’s sole liability with respect to any defect shall be for the replacement of the defective Products. No one is authorized to make any other warranties on behalf of Company, or modify this warranty, except in a separate written paper document under signature of a corporate officer of Company then-listed with either the Nevada Secretary of State or the California Secretary of State. Company will not be liable for repairing damages or failures caused by acts of God, abuse, mishandling, alteration, accident, electrical current fluctuations, failure to follow operating, maintenance or environmental instructions prescribed by Company, abnormal usage, or any other use or application for which the Products are not intended. The foregoing shall constitute Company’s sole warranty and sole liability, and is in lieu of any other warranties whether written, oral, implied, or statutory. Some states and provinces do not allow the limitation of exclusion or limitation or incidental or consequential damages and some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the limitations or exclusions may not apply. This warranty gives its beneficiaries specific legal rights, and beneficiaries may have other rights, which vary from state to state and province and province. COMPANY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR PERFORMANCE OF THE GOODS OR SERVICES OR OTHER INDIRECT DAMAGES WITH RESPECT TO LOSS OF PROPERTY, REVENUES, LIFE OR LIMB, PERSONAL INJURY, AND CLAIMANT’S REMEDIES SHALL BE LIMITED TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF NONCONFORMING GOODS OR SERVICES.

Elemental LED’s engineering department is continually developing new products that take existing LED technology a step further. We solve problems like dimming and light output limitations. White Balance LED Strip Light and Controller
Elemental is proud to be among the first companies in the world to offer a White Balance control system to the public. The White Balance LED Strip Light and Wall Controller allow users to choose the exact shade of white that they desire, ranging all the way from a cool white (8000k) to a warm white (2500k). This LED wall controller system dramatically expands the user’s range of LED strip lighting, making dimming LED light and choosing the perfect shade of white light as easy as turning a switch.
The special controllable and dimmable LED strip light has white bulbs in cool, neutral and warm white temperatures that alternate along the length of the strip, which dim and brighten in response to the controller. With the use of the White Balance Wall Controller, smoothly transitioning between color temperatures is easy, and after choosing the right one, you can lock it in with the controller’s toggle switch. The controller can also be adapted as a color-changing LED controller for use with RGB LED lights.
The White Balance Wall Controller is modeled after our Reign Dimmer Switch (see below), which means it also works as an LED dimmer switch. The toggle on the White Balance LED Wall Controller switches between dimming and color balance modes. With the toggle in the right position the LED dimmer switch is activated, so you can smoothly dim the lights to any level of brightness from 0% to 100%; with the toggle to the left, you can use the LED wall controller to fine tune the color temperature, ranging from cool to warm white.
The White Balance Strip and LED Wall Controller are 12V DC products and can be powered by either a 12V hard-wired driver or a plug-in 12V adapter. The Wall Controller fits into a standard light switch wall outlet and has two lead wires to connect to 12V DC power.

The Cree 3W Dimmable Puck Light
Until recently, LED puck lights were not available with full dimming capabilities; most LEDs exhibit flickering and/or squealing when dimmed, and only offer a dimmable range of 40—100 percent. But thanks to a new Elemental design that incorporates a constant current driver chip by US-based STMicroelectronics, Elemental LED’s new puck lights dim smoothly from 0—100% using pulse width modulation (PWM). Developed in the US at Elemental Engineering Labs, the Cree 3W Dimmable Puck Lights feature smooth, quiet dimming, with virtually all of the flickering and squealing exhibited by traditional drivers eliminated.
In addition to this cutting-edge dimming technology, our Cree pucks offer some of the best luminous efficacy (brightness for wattage used) available to the consumer market. One of the main reasons our dimmable pucks are capable of such huge functional and environmental benefits is that they’re equipped with Cree LED chips.
Cree is leading the solid state lighting industry worldwide in LED technology and is currently manufacturing some of the brightest, most energy-efficient, and highest-quality LEDs on the market. According to Durham, NC based-Cree, “Cree LEDs combine highly efficient InGaN [Indium gallium nitride] materials with proprietary G•SIC® substrates to deliver superior price/performance for high-intensity LEDs.”

The Apollo DMX Controller
Unlike other LED color controllers on the market, the Apollo Controller, which is a dual-mode, custom programmable lighting controller, is able to output commands either in DMX or via pulse width modulation (PWM). This is an unprecedented accomplishment in the LED lighting community, because it means that the Apollo has the ability to control both DMX devices, like wall washers and PAR cans, and to drive three channels of PWM to control fixtures like RGB strips and bars.
We have also developed specialized computer software to be used in conjunction with the Apollo Controller. This software allows the user to visually design custom lighting scenes on a computer, load them into the Apollo, and then play them back through lighting fixtures without being attached to the computer. The software incorporates simple flowchart-style design and uses cues such as "Fade to Color" and "Pause on a Color" to construct scenes and create previews on the computer. And the Apollo is about the size and weight of three CDs stacked, so it’s easily portable.

The Reign 12V Dimmer Switch
Reign 12V Dimmer Switches are wall-mountable LED dimmers engineered by and manufactured for Elemental LED as an affordable way to achieve 0-100% dimming of 12V LED lights. These switches represent the first stylish, wall-mountable 12V LED dimmer switches available to the mass market.
LED lights are DC (direct current) devices, while most homes and offices today are wired for 120V AC (alternating current) installations. In order to dim an LED fixture, a driver (i.e. transformer) that converts from DC to AC power is needed. Prior to the release of Reign switches, the drivers available for dimmable LEDs were expensive and conspicuous, with marginal performance output. Unfortunately, traditional 12V dimmable drivers only dim down to 40 percent and exhibit flickering all the while. The Reign switch creates smooth 0—100% dimming with the use of any standard 12V driver.
When developing the Reign line of dimmable switches, Joe Martin, our Director of Engineering, wanted to ensure that they would fit right in with existing home and office décor. “We believe this is the first stylish 12V wall-mount dimmer to be launched in the market. We designed it to be indistinguishable from name-brand wall dimmers and give similar performance for 12V fixtures,” says Martin.

The Mini RGB Color Controller
We designed the pocket-sized Mini RGB LED Controller to be a simple, affordable way to control color LED lights. The Mini Controller features a single button that allows you to choose from 18 color-changing modes to command RGB strip lighting and light bars. And it was designed for a quick setup: plug the four wires of an RGB LED light fixture into the connector at one end, and the wires of a low voltage LED power source at the other. This 12V accessory offers color modes like: solid colors, strobing, flashing, quick fades, and slow fades.
All RGB LED strips and LED light bars require a color controller to interface between the fixture and the 12V power source, and this mini color controller provides a way to use full color LEDs without making a big investment in color-controlling equipment.
Customers have taken advantage of its matchbox size and ease of use for their custom lighting installations: a drummer has installed flexible RGB strips inside a drum set and mounted the controller outside a drum; a bartender with RGB lights installed in glass shelving has tucked this micro RGB controller discreetly under a counter; with this simple device, a high-end clothing store creates high-impact window displays that can change with the theme.
