San Francisco Green Drinks is a nonprofit organization that provides networking opportunities for environmental professionals. I have been living in the Bay Area all my life and only recently came across this organization, so I thought I would write about what they do.
Basically, on the first Tuesday of every month in San Francisco, Green Drinks holds a large networking event for several hundred green professionals at 111 Minna or John Colins, two bars located in SOMA. A broad range of community partners, businesses and nonprofits contribute to the event and help inform attendees about happenings in the local green market.
The hope is that by joining green professionals together in these formats, relationships and opportunities will grow and help to expand the green economy in the San Francisco Bay Area. I must admit, these events sound interesting and fun. I used to frequent the bars these events are held at and they have a laid back scene. It can get a little loud in these locations, but nothing a frequent SF bar hopper can’t handle.
For green professionals looking to do more than just attend theses events, there are sponsorship opportunities and ways to volunteer, create discussion boards, and even DJ these events.
I will try to make it to the next event in July. Look for me there.
