Sold by the foot, our Side View Flexible LED Strip Light's low profile allows use in many discreet locations. The depth of the Side View strip is a mere 0.2 inches, so it will fit virtually anywhere, with a 3M adhesive backing that permits easy mounting. The flat-style 12V LEDs cast light sideways at a 90 degree angle from the strip surface. The Flexible LED Light is designed to cast no shadows and boasts a desirable seamless glow. Low energy consumption not only means saving money, it also can translate to an elimination of electrical shock and fire danger.

The flexible design and high-intensity LED lighting make it ideal for:

  • floorboard and stairway lighting
  • cove, closets and interior lighting
  • exhibit lighting
  • kitchen cabinet lighting
  • project lighting
  • close lighting task application

Since this strip is 0.2 inches wide (instead of the 0.3 inches of our standard strip and 0.4 of brighter strip), it's not compatible with our Flexible Strip Light connectors. So, for sections of 15 feet or less, simply solder our LED Adapter Splice Cable to the contacts on the Side View and plug the cable into a 12V Adapter. Or, if you need a more permanent and secure connection, or have a larger installation, the lead wires of our 12V Indoor/Outdoor Drivers can either be soldered directly to the strip, or you can use our 18/2 Lamp Wire to create an extension between the strip and driver. Every 16.4 feet of strip must have its own power source.

  1. Do you have a video on soldering LED Adapter Splice Cables to a Side View Flexible LED Strip? I'm not a novice to soldering, but today I tried making this connection and had no success. I needed to cut an 8' strip in half and solder them as mirror images for cabinet lighting and I was very frustrated trying. I cut it on the line between the copper contacts as shown in the picture but could not get the leads to connect. I had what I thought was a semi-good connection and plugged it in and the strip didn't light. Your help would be GREATLY appreciated (as it has been in the past). Thanks

We don't currently have a video on soldering, but that's a good idea, and we'll see if we can make one. In the meantime, since the contacts on the strip are so small, and the Side View Strip Light is very narrow, the most common soldering problem our customers have is that the positive and negative solder beads are too big and contact each other, which prevents the strip from lighting up. So perhaps you could fold the end in half lengthwise a bit to keep the contacts separate when you solder, or put some non-conducting material between the contacts. All of this is after checking that the polarities of the strip sections, wires and power source are all matched correctly. If you still can't get it to work, please call us at 877-564-5051 and we'll continue the troubleshooting.
  2. I want to mount the strip inside a slot cut into wood. Do you have any idea how much clearance (if any) I need to allow to keep the LEDs from overheating?

From ujg at 7/24/12 5:10 AM
LED strip lights require very little clearance to keep their temperature down. Depending on the kind of wood you may be using, the clearance may vary, but one inch of clearance should be adequate.

    Thank you
  3. How can I control the color? Do I need a any controller for Side-view-flexible-led-light?

From Jay at 3/26/13 12:42 PM
The Side View Strip Lights are currently available in solid colors. We do carry RGB strip lights, RGB light bars, and RGB pucks that may be controlled with our RGB color controllers , but the solid color on the side view strip lights cannot be altered with a color controller. Therefore, you would not need a color controller to use them.
