These bulbs are quite possibly the best purchase I have ever made to help 'feather' my nest. I bought 3 and I love setting them to different colors for mood lighting in my bedroom. These are PERFECT for recessed lighting. -

As advertised, it's cool. It creates accents in various locations. Can't use a lamp with a shade because any lamp bars will show up. -

I bought one of these on a whim, am I glad I did. It forced me to get creative. I ended up building a light fixture out of an old painting spotlight socket with some PVC fittings, bolts and an old time translucent glass shade, that I picked cheap from a local store closing them out. The final effect is really kool, the colored light shines thru the translucent glass shade lighting it and also the floor below. One can have a single color or put it on auto and enjoy changing colors. I am well satisfied. -

This was a great buy! It surprised me how intense this 5W RGB LED is and, with so many functions all in one package, very cool!
Please Note: This bulb has an autosave memory to remember the last setting when the bulb is powered off ONLY when it is powered off with the included remote control. Powering the bulb off with an external wall switch will erase the last setting, and the bulb will revert to the random strobe setting.

Is the remote for this IR or RF? What is the range? If you have several bulbs in a room or a fixture, will they all respond to the one remote? And, finally, does the bulb remember its setting when turned off, so it comes back on at the same color and level?
From Guest at 6/4/10 4:54 AMThe remote control is IR (infrared). The range is similar to that of a typical remote control for a TV. The receiver is inside the light so you need to aim the remote at it to make it work. One remote will control multiple bulbs as long as the signal hits both. We tested this by putting two right next to each other. Unfortunately, the bulb has no memory. It cycles slowly between red, green and blue when it is first turned on. -
What is the purpose of the "Setup" and "Cancel" buttons on the remote? How do you use these buttons?
From Guest at 6/4/10 8:05 AMThe Setup and Cancel buttons on the remote control are functions for controlling multiple RGB bulbs. The Setup button allows you to program one bulb to be the master and the rest to be the slaves, so that several bulbs can be synchronized. -

I would like to purchase a color changing bulb for use in outdoor holiday decorating; would this type of bulb be applicable to outdoor lighting? Also, once you set the colors and the cycle, will it hold the memory when the lamp is turned off, or does the lamp color/cycle need to be reset each time the lamp is turned on?

This bulb can be used outdoors in a protected area, in the same way as an incandescent bulb or CFL. The bulb itself does not have the memory function. -
How can I synchronize multiple bulbs so that they change colors together?
From Guest at 3/5/12 12:26 PMIt can be a little tricky to do this, but here's what you need to to: 1) All of the bulbs to be sync'd should have the same color on the base. 2) Point any two remote controls at each other, 3) Hold the setup buttons on each remote for at least 5 seconds. 4) Now either remote will control any of the bulbs and they should be in sync. Note that Elemental does not guarantee that the bulbs can be sync'd perfectly. We find that bulbs work together on Fade and Smooth modes. -
What's an E26 or E27 base?
