LED Glass Edge Lighting at New York’s Milk St. Cafe

led strip light glass edge lighting at milk st restaurant, new york city

In June 2011, the Milk St. Cafe opened its second location, at 40 Wall Street diagonally across from the New York Stock Exchange, and Elemental’s LED lights are helping it shine. Originally a Boston institution, Milk Street Cafe has brought a large food hall to the financial district of New York City. Adorning one of the seating areas at the restaurant is an edge-lit glass panel featuring a somewhat Asian-influenced image of a landscape that’s sure to momentarily transport diners away from the hubbub of downtown New York.

The glass panel art was created by Maryland artist Steve Resnick and is lit by a spool of our neutral white Flexible LED Strip Light and controlled by a Reign 12V Dimmer Switch. As is often the case with glass edge-lighting, the bluish tint of the image comes from shining the LED light through the glass from the sides. Resnick’s work has been exhibited and installed in museums, galleries, and synagogues throughout the United States. You can see more of it at www.steveresnickstudio.com.
