Feeling a little, er, stuffed? Here’s a way to work off all of that turkey without having to brave the Black Friday crowds: high-tech, interactive exercise glasses, called Sportiiiis by 4iiii. Sportiiiis features an LED light display that attaches to virtually any pair of sunglasses. The small, lightweight unit exhibits critical performance data like time elapsed, speed and cadence using seven RGB LEDs. The LEDs are embedded within a small arm that is positioned just outside the user’s primary visual plane. The idea is that glancing at your wristwatch during high-speed intervals is distracting and potentially dangerous, depending on how fast you’re moving. Sportiiiis eliminates the need to do that, and also provides audible data cues for precise feedback when needed.
Using smart phone or PC software, the LEDs are programmed to provide visual feedback in response to data from other exercise enhancing devices, such as a heart rate strap. For example, if your heart rate falls below or above your target range, different colored LED lights will blink to let you know its time to work harder or ease off. “In addition, with Sportiiiis’ Tip-Tap™ technology, a simple tap on the side of the unit will generate an audible cue of your exact heart rate. And a double-tap will switch between paired sensors. Monitoring your race/workout data has never been easier – or safer,” says the 4iii website. I’d have to agree. Now get moving, Robocop!
