I am seeing more and more green conferences these days. If you were not aware, the Cleantech Open conference in San Jose just got started this morning. Normally, I am not a huge fan of trade shows or conferences. I don’t really like networking, tending a booth, or trying to sell myself, but these conferences are a little different.Green is not a product. Cleantech is not a product. These are ideas that need to be capitalized on and I think these shows are a great way for companies to get together and discuss how the market is moving and explore different ways to capitalize on the green movement. Let’s be honest. The green movement will go nowhere if there is no money to be made. Conferences like Cleantech Open provide an arena for people to spread knowledge and perpetuate innovation. They are think tanks for a movement that needs to happen if we has human beings want to enjoy our current quality of life.
These conferences are usually affordable too so you don’t have to be a large business to attend. I think Cleantech Open runs under $300.
So kudos to the folks who are setting up these conferences and helping the movement share knowledge. Kudos to Cleantech Open. If we can make money on this whole green movement, we can push it along even farther. So start innovating, start investing in green, start having a conversation about clean energy. You never know where it might lead you.
