The 12 Volt Motion Sensor Switch is an automatic movement sensor switch that is activated by any motion within 6 feet. Using infrared detection technology, it is triggered by movement: the infrared detection unit turns on the your low voltage light when someone is in range; when there is no movement, the lamp will turn off automatically after 20 seconds without any motion. This low voltage switch is perfect for indoor or outdoor use, as it is water resistant. It can be installed with deck or patio lighting, in the basement or garage, and even garden and landscape lights.
With these 12V Inline Infrared LED Sensors, any of Elemental’s 12V DC LED lighting products can be turned into motion-activated lighting. Simply plug this easy-to-use LED Motion Sensor switch into your 12V adapter at one end and your lighting source at the other, whether it’s strip lighting, under cabinet LED lighting or puck lights. The Inline 12V Motion Sensors are housed in sturdy white plastic that is water resistant.

Will this product work on 12 volt LED rope light? Thank you, Mike
Yes.
What is the current draw of the switch while it's open (the light is off)? I'd like to use this in an energy sensitive application (boat) where battery drain is an issue.
Also, would you recommend this or the nighttime switch for application in a small room (boat bathroom) with small windows where the light should only come on at night.
Thanks!
Dave
The Draw of the Motion Sensor Switch while turned off is .25W.
The Nighttime switch might be better for your particular application as it will function even better while in very dark conditions.
would this work as an inline sensor switch for a 12 volt deck light on a boat? I am looking for a motion sensor that would activate the deck light adding to security. The wiring plugs do not look compatible to a simple 12 V light?
The motion sensor switch can be used on a 12v power boat or vehicle. The standard DC plugs on both ends are not standard connections to vehicles but with the assistance of our LED Adapter Splice Cable - male and female, you can easily hard wire this switch to your lights.
