We now offer Flexible Ultraviolet LED Strip Lights sold by the foot: a highly specific LED lighting tool that nonetheless has a wide array of business and home uses. This UL-listed ultraviolet strip light, rated at 385 Nanometers, gives off UV light that falls in the range of “Near” UV light that is nearly invisible to the naked eye. But ultraviolet LEDs are useful for many applications.
Common uses of UV light include:
Security: use the UV strip light to authenticate documents: driver’s licenses, passports, and credit cards usually include a watermark that is visible only under UV light. Use it to detect the authenticity of materials that may look the same under visible light, such as money, artwork, minerals, and gems, but which fluoresce to different degrees under ultraviolet light.
Sterilization: our ultraviolet LED lights are used to sterilize workspaces and tools in medical facilities, laboratories, hotels, restaurants, and food processing, as it kills unwanted microorganisms. UV lights also detect organic mineral deposits on surfaces that haven’t been properly cleaned, and for air and water purification.
Forensics: UV is a helpful investigative tool at crime scenes that locates and identifies bodily fluids (semen, blood, bile, etc.)
Herpetology: Reptiles need long wave UV light to metabolize calcium for bone and egg production. In a reptile enclosure, you can now replace the typical fluorescent UV lamp (for calcium absorption ) with an LED UV light.

Would it be possible to wire these type of lights into a 12v automotive application? How is the intensity or brightness of the light measured and how do these lights compare with other black light bulbs? Ive been working on a VW bettle that is over the top and i would like to use these for the interior lighting.

Yes, our Flexible UV LED Strip Light can be powered by your automotive battery. The light emitted falls in in the 382-385 nanometers range (or “near” UV light that is nearly invisible to the naked eye). Thus, the light does not appear as bright as our other forms of flexible LED strip lights. These strips would probably be best suited to providing accent lighting. To compare with other black lights, our strips are most likely lower-profile and will not use much energy or emit much heat, and with strip, you can always add on more to increase your light output.
Thank you, can you tell me please if the strip can be painted and what other accessory items will be needed for a basic 12v automotive application? After looking at your photos it appears
there may be a cable that the strip connects with, are there
installation instructions provided with the lights?
I would like to buy 2 ten foot sections and one three foot section with two of the flexible tape-to-tape connectors.

Our strip can be painted, and you would probably want to use a "flexible LED strip light splice connector" at the beginning of the strip. This connector would give you two bare wires on the end of the strip that can then be spliced into your vehicle 12VDC power. The strip-to-strip connectors that we carry can also be used to transform two pieces of strip into one longer piece. Please don't hesitate to call with any further questions.
I have some posters that I purchased recently that have glow in the dark inks in them, I'm hoping to find something low profile that will fit into a small shadow box frame that will make the inks glow without the use of a blacklight, as the purple hue from the backlight drowns out the rest of the artwork. Would this product work for that purpose? I noticed the transformer used in the video is pretty big, is there something smaller available, or even better some type of battery powered transformer?

This should work for your application. The low profile of the strip means that it will easily fit in your shadow box, and , much like a blacklight, fluorescent colors should react to it .
We do have varying sizes of drivers , and, depending on your application, they may be quite small. We also offer rechargeable lithium ion batteries that are compatible with our strip lighting.
Thank you
Would these work to kill mold spores in a mini split or window mount air conditioner?

Whereas we do not have data on specific sterilization applications for this Strip Light, I can provide you with the NM frequency of the Strip Light for you to cross reference to the frequency you require to destroy the mold spores.
From our Tech Specs on our web site: "Sterilization: our ultraviolet LED lights are used to sterilize workspaces and tools in medical facilities, laboratories, hotels, restaurants, and food processing, as it kills unwanted microorganisms. UV lights also detect organic mineral deposits on surfaces that haven’t been properly cleaned, and for air and water purification."
The NM frequency of this Strip Light is: 382-385 NM
