Can these LED strips have on-off switches and be run off a car battery for my fishhouse?
If your car battery kicks out 12 volts DC, then, yes it can. All of our strips run on 12V DC and have been used in car applications. -
Can you give me some tips on how to solder the Flexible LED strips together? I want to connect to the 18-gauge bell wire.
Soldering is fairly straightforward: you just need a soldering iron, some solder (which is a metal alloy that melts easily and comes in wire form), and it sounds like you have the correct gauge wire. You just place one strand of the wire on one of the contacts and use the iron to melt a drop or two of the solder to bond the wire to the contact point. Then repeat for the other wire and contact. The contacts are the pairs of copper-colored circles on either side of the scissor icon that you'll find every 2 inches on the strip.
