Sold by the foot, our Brighter Waterproof Flexible LED Strip Light's low profile allows use in many discreet locations. This flat, super bright LED strip emits light in all directions with a 120° light beam angle. The Flexible LED Light is designed to cast no shadows and boasts a desirable seamless glow. The Brighter Flexible LED Light Strip uses high power SMD (3 chip) LEDs, enabling a greater light output of 180 lumens. There is a new LED every 1.2 inches and each foot comes with 9 High output LEDs and uses less than 2.16 watts of electricity per foot.

This high-intensity LED lighting is ideal for cove lighting, interior lighting, exhibit lighting, kitchen-cabinet lighting, project lighting, and any sort of close application task lighting. And since this Flexible Light is waterproof, our customers have found this product to be useful in and around fountains, pools, water slides, greenhouses, and garden lighting, as well as for deck and patio lighting.

Despite its brightness, the low energy consumption of this strip means not only saving money, it can also translate to an elimination of electrical shock and fire danger. This solid state Light Strip lasts for over 50,000 hours which is 8 years if left constantly on. This strip will cost $1.80 per foot if left on all year. And all of Elemental's products, our Flexible LED Light holds the prestigious ROHS certificate, which ensures that no environmentally harmful components were used in manufacturing.

  1. Can these be direct-wired to 12-volt battery? I want to use them on a boat.

From Guest at 6/3/10 9:56 AM
Connecting to a 12-volt battery is common. We strongly suggest using a fuse for your protection against a power surge.
  2. Can I hardwire these to a wall switch and if so how??

From Guest at 7/7/10 4:25 AM
Yes, this can be done and is a common method of installation. To use our LED lighting in conjunction with an existing wall on/off switch, just wire your LED driver (12VDC transformer) to the switch or plug your LED adapter into a switched outlet. To use an existing dimmer switch, wire your switch and LED lights to one of our dimmable LED drivers (wiring instructions come included).
  3. Will they work at an underwater depth of 50 feet?

From Guest at 7/12/10 9:02 AM
With an IP65 rating, immersion at 50 feet is not advised.
  4. Can I link two strips together by some type of cable or wiring to span across a kitchen window? (ie. no lighting above the window)

From Guest at 8/9/10 7:11 AM
Yes. Our 18/2 Lamp Wire is perfect for this. Just order the length you need (the wire is listed in Shop By Item / Accessories / Installation Accessories), and connect each end of the wire to the two strip sections either by soldering or using a Waterproof Solder Connector Pair (in Shop By Item / Strip Lights / Strip Light Connectors).
  5. How do you attach the strips to the cabinet?

From Guest at 8/25/10 11:12 PM
Waterproof strips are attached to the surface with our Waterproof Flexible Light Mounting Clips and screws, which are available on the Accessories > Fasteners page.
  6. Is the lumen rating 110-130 per LED chip (1/9 foot) or per foot?

From Guest at 1/25/11 6:40 PM
The lumen rating is per foot.
  7. I am looking for a light to mount to the underside of a stair tread that cantilevers over the riser to light up the floor below. This is indoors in an office with 1 step. This would be just for accent lighting and would need to be on a dimmer. Would this type of light look ok and work for this application?

From Guest at 3/5/11 11:02 AM
Yes, this strip is dimmable and would work as staircase lighting. You could also use the flexible non-waterproof version, since this is an indoor application. But the waterproof version would be good if shoes will have any contact with the strip, since the coating protects the strip.
  8. can this be connected to a flasher module and what is the flash pattern (do they flash all together or do they alternate within the strip)?

From Guest at 1/2/12 8:48 AM
This strip, like all of our strips at the moment, do not perform chase patterns or alternating lighting effects. They can be installed on a flasher unit making all the LEDs blink and flash in unison.
  9. I have 2 coves in a shower area that I want to have this waterproof, dimmable strip in.

What is best to use to make 90 degree turns?
How do I connect the two coves and have all on the same switch?

    One cove is approximately 37" x 37" x 37" x 37" and is at eye level.
The other cove is overhead and measures approximately 82" x 47" x 82" x 42". They do share a wall.

What would be best to use to make the corners and the connection to the other cove through the wall?

I assume it is best to have some kind of access to the internal connection between the two, is that correct? Can all hardware be inside the wall or is heat a factor making venting or external mounting necessary?
My electrician is not familiar with LED lighting at all so is hesitant to use your product. With clear cut guidance I think his fears can be alleviated.

From Guest at 6/27/12 11:10 AM
These questions would be best addressed in our main inbox which is answers@elementalled.com. I will however try and answer them here. The best way to make a 9- degree turn is with a Strip-to-Strip Bending Extension. You can only run about 20feet of flexible 12V Strip lighting before you experience what is known as voltage drop. To work around voltage drop, please wire the next 20 feet back to the Driver which is called parallel. All of this wiring can easily be done with 18/2 gauge lamp cord, but an electrician will use something heavier such as 14/2 Romex wiring. For all mounting purposes of Drivers and wires ran in your walls these are questions handled by your local electrician. Check with him/her to make sure you are following your local electrical code.
  10. Can the brighter waterproof flexible strip be used around saltwater?

From Guest at 7/20/12 8:43 AM
We would not recommend using this product in a saltwater environment as this may discolor or damage the strip

    Thank you
