The Apollo DMX LED Color-Changing Controller is a dual-mode, custom programmable LED lighting control system for RGB lights. The Apollo Controller offers both DMX and PWM output, along with PC-compatible computer software that allows for user-friendly custom lighting programming. Unlike other color changing LED controllers on the market, the Apollo is able to output its signal either in DMX or via pulse width modulation (PWM) and has a memory to store your DMX commands. This RGB LED controller is the first of its kind in the LED lighting community and is sold exclusively through Elemental. Dual control gives the Apollo the ability to command DMX devices, like RGB LED wall washers and color-changing PAR cans, and to drive three channels of PWM to control LED lighting fixtures like strip lights and light bars.

The Apollo Controller System includes:

  • DMX Controller with PWM function
  • Software installation CD
  • USB cable

Elemental has developed specialized computer software to be used in conjunction with the Apollo Controller. This software allows the user to visually design custom lighting scenes on the computer, load them into the Apollo, and then play them back through light fixtures without the computer. The software incorporates simple flowchart-style design and uses cues such as "Fade to Color" and "Pause on a Color" to construct scenes and create previews on the computer. With the Apollo System, custom lighting is only a few steps away.

It may sound like it's for experts only, but setup and use of the Apollo Controller system is so simple, anyone can do it:

  • Install the Apollo software onto your computer.
  • Design up to 10 lighting scenes on your PC using Apollo software.
  • Connect the Apollo Controller to your computer using a USB cable and transfer your customized lighting scenes to the unit.
  • Using the buttons and the numerical display on the Apollo, trigger any of the scenes through your existing LED lighting fixtures.
  • Have fun! Switch out your lighting scenes depending on the mood you want to create. Each scene you select will repeat endlessly until you choose another or shut the unit off.

The Apollo programmable color changing LED controller is designed for business owners, lighting designers, artists, or anyone who needs simple, fully customizable lighting control at an affordable price. For example, a bar owner may want to create ambiance through slow-pulsing, colored accent lights behind his shelves of bottles. He may want to remain in one particular color range (blues and greens) during the slower days at the beginning of the week, and then transition into more energetic colors (reds and oranges) on the weekend. The Apollo Controller will allow the bar owner to create this and other lighting effects to his exact specifications, and this RGB LED controller can do the same for you!

  1. bad news bears

I pretty much broke it when I disconnected it from my computer. Didn't even get to use it. Customer support no help. Thanks for nothing, unless you
    just want a refund.
  2. Works Excellent

I changed the spotlights on the exterior of my house to RGB color changing for Christmas and using DMX cables and it works perfectly.
  3. Smart

Love this thing! Easy to use, and just what I needed.

  1. Will the software run on MAC or PC or both?

At this point, it is not yet Mac-compatible.
  2. Hello,

I would like to have 3 or possibly more seperate runs of color changing led strips (apx 5ft each) running their own sequences. So for example, string one would be blue, while string two is red and three is purple and so on. Would this new controller allow this? Or would I need a controller for each seperate string? Thanks!

Although the Apollo DMX Controller has memory, color-changing strip lights do not, so they can't be programmed. So each section of strip will need its own color controller.
  3. Is there any limit to how many strips I can run off this? All doing the same pattern?

There's no limit on the Apollo controller side, but our Color-Changing Strips have a power run and RGB signal limit of 16.5 feet. So for each 16.5 feet, you need to introduce our RGB Signal Amplifier. Please visit that product page for a full explanation and wiring diagrams that show you how that installation is set up.
  4. What is the maximum time in color change that can be programmed into the controller?

Within a single SCENE, the longest a SUB_SCENE can be held for is 255 seconds (4 minutes 15 seconds). You can always program multiple SUB_SCENES with the same color in a row.
    Example: SCENE 1.0 Yellow Jump/ SCENE 1.1 hold 255 sec/ (repeat)

Please Note: Scenes held longer than 255 seconds will receive an error and cannot be saved.
  5. When using a hardwired driver (150W) and Apollo controller with a run of 12 feet of RGB high density, color changing light strip, can power be turned on and off to the lights using one of your wall switches, even though the Apollo controller has a power switch?

Also, I'm assuming that you can use the Apollo controller *OR* a DMX controller & Decoder, but not all at the same time? I'm wanting to be able to change scenes, and turn on/off all lights, as well as have the ultimate color and programming capability the Apollo offers, but also be able to do DMX control (and on/off) from my computer. (I know its asking a lot), just wondering about the possibilities! Thanks!

    Greetings David,

Thank you for contacting Elemental LED. In regards to your question you would be able to use an Apollo controller wired to a main switch. When activated... the Apollo Color Controller will reset to its default color scene at setting 0. If you wish to select another color, you will have to go to the unit and manually select another color scene.
    Thank you.
