How to Connect a Flexible LED Strip to a Power Source

Before we see how to connect our flexible LED strip lights to a power source through a connector, let’s look at the basic connector types that are compatible with these non-waterproof strips. All of the following plugs are available in two sizes: one for standard strips (which are 0.3 inches wide), and one for brighter and RGB strips (which are 0.4 inches wide.) For illustration purposes, the following examples are for the standard 0.3 inch strips.

Here are instructions for how to connect a flexible non-waterproof strip light to a power source. (Please note that, at step 7 of these instructions, where you are inserting the strip into the Flexible LED Strip Light DC Plug Connector, the strip needs to face away from the brown tab, and the polarity of the strip must match the polarity of the connector. In other words, plus to plus and minus to minus. If you slide the strip into the connector and it does not light up, simply use the other end, as the polarities didn’t match.)

If the strip is securely connected but is not lighting up, try connecting the other end of the strip. The strip’s + and – must match those of the connector.
