Inspired by the musical artist Pretty Lights, Brian Allen, Training Specialist here at Elemental LED constructed a lightweight and portable DJ lighting set up that interacts with the music being played. The set up is made of a series of 5 RGB LED panels that correspond with different beats to create an instant light show – similar to a visual equalizer.

Brian’s challenge was to build something that has a grand appearance while remaining easily transportable and without a large cost compared to setups from DJ or lighting stores. The panels are made of acrylic tubes from TAP Plastics with a cotton sheet stretched over and secured with velcro. Brian inserted High Density RGB LED Strip Light inside the tubes and used the Apollo Jammer, a music controller to enable the lights to interact with the music.
