James’s DIY LED Lit Fish Bowl

For his first LEDIY project, James Kindred, our Customer Service Supervisor wanted to keep it simple for all ages. He said he wanted to create something, “unique, functional, and inexpensive but something anyone could personalize.” The final outcome is a glowing fish bowl made of a glass vase and plant pot.

James came up with the idea for his project one night while drinking a glass of white wine, thinking the glass would make a perfect fish bowl. Originally, he cut a wine glass with his dremel but then decided to just buy a glass vase since he figured not everyone owns a dremel and he wanted to keep it easy. He lit the bowl with an LED Dome Light, which is a mini square light panel that fits perfectly into the flower pot. He also used a 12V adapter and a DC wire plug.

He wanted to incorporate our company colors and his Irish heritage into his project. Green and clear rocks adorn the bottom of the bowl while his orange Siamese Lighting—ahem, I mean Fighting Fish, named Muhammad LED, make up the colors of the Irish flag.

To learn how to create your own glowing LED fish bowl follow James’s step-by-step Instructable.
