One of the more ethereal LED installations at Maker Faire was the inflatable glowing forest hand crafted by O Yeah Toys based in Oakland. The color changing LED forest is made up of Glow Pillars and exemplifies O Yeah Toy’s mission to “promote creative play, and to encourage cooperation through the combination of animal and plant shapes.”
Whimsical and fun the sculptures resemble giant asparagus. The pillars can also be stand alone or even tied into arches.
Lots of kids were running around and moving the pillars so transforming it into an illuminated underwater kelp forest. This video shows the Glow Pillars in action:
