Full Circle Now Delivers Organic Food to Bay Area Homes
| June 5th, 2012
Category: Green People & Companies, Recent Blog Posts

Seed stockFull Circle, a 400-acre organic farm in Washington State, has been promoting organic farming since 1996.  They have been partnering with local organic farms across the west coast to create an organic food delivery service.  Most recently, they acquired Eating With the Seasons, a Bay Area organic produce delivery company, and are expanding that presence to serve even more Northern California members.

There are a number of local Bay Area organic food delivery services such as Betty’s Organics, Farm Fresh To You, Community Supported Agriculture San Francisco, Organic Now and more.  Full Circle, a non-local farm will be competing against these local organic food delivery services.  Normally, I would say that it is always better to buy local, but when it comes to pushing the organic food movement forward, I think a little competition is a good thing.

It forces local farms and suppliers to become more efficient and bring the cost of operations down, passing the savings on to the customers.  Ultimately, customers will choose their organic delivery service based on what motivates them.  It could be cost, it could be local, or it could be quality.  Whoever becomes the leader in the organic food delivery service industry, they will be helping to perpetuate the organic and sustainable food movement, which is a good thing.

“We’re excited to see Full Circle expand in the Bay Area,” said Matt Dillon, Director, Seed Matters. “We work on promoting and preserving seed diversity – our shared heritage and a key building block of sustainable agriculture. Companies like Full Circle will help our shared mission by working with like-minded growers and making it easy for people to access  this wonderful local bounty.”

Organic food prices are a little more expensive than traditional mass-produced food, but the quality and purity of the organic food you get is worth it.  Plus, by spending money on organic food in the San Francisco Bay Area, you are voting for more organic farmers.  Whoever you decide to buy your organic food from, the more money we can invest into organic farms, the more farming will be forced to become more sustainable.
