French artist Antonin Fourneau’s Water Light Graffiti wall has created an entirely new form of public art, not to mention LED light art and graffiti. Installed in Poitiers, France, the piece is comprised of 20,000 waterproof LED lights, all individually soldered on custom circuit boards. The circuit boards contain no resistors or transistors. Instead, the LED lights conduct electricity through contact with water.
According to Cnet.com, “Anyone could participate in the artistic experience, and Fourneau made it truly fun by supplying Super Soaker water guns, spray bottles, buckets, and other “brushes” for people to experiment with.”
Illuminated occurs wherever water makes contact with the LED lights, and remains until the water has evaporated, created beautiful, fleeting images with absolutely no mess or harsh chemicals. This outdoor LED lighting installation is truly unique and engages the public in creating temporary, fluid, illuminated images in a way that’s never been done before. Bravo, Fourneau!

The light is very interesting. The design is very novelty and unique. I like the third picture best. Appreciate your sharing.
This is pretty awesome. I’d love to see it where the LED color was corellated with the temperature of the water. I think even those who don’t like graffiti paintings and label them as vandalism must agree that this particular kind of it is really impressive. What immediately came to my mind was the so-called Graffiti Panel that is about to be established here in Toronto to check the city walls and deem the paintings either art or vandalism. However, I am afraid the panel members might be prejudiced which would mean that each and every graffiti painting in Toronto could very easily be removed and an important part of our city’s artistic creation would thus be lost. Do they really think this is the best way to fight vandalism?
