Here’s a little Halloween treat for you: artist Daniel Zeller invents haunting-yet-beautiful, diorama-style scenes, using silhouettes and a very small version of cabinet lighting. He calls his creation “Limbo Shadow Canvas,” and much like the age-old game of shadow puppets, this example of LED light art is created by placing paper cutouts between the canvas and small LED puck lights, which sit behind it. The word canvas is appropriate because the shadows create a look that is very painterly and organic…and even a little creepy. When the LED light fixtures are turned off, the spider figure is no longer visible, making this mini installation kid-friendly if necessary.
